US warns China:

Meanwhile, the United States has warned China of its support for Russia. A senior US diplomat warned on Sunday that Russia's decision to provide military or economic aid to Russia would have dire consequences.

The White House said in a statement that "US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping discussed in detail the implications for China if it helps Russia."

In an interview with CNN, Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US ambassador to the United Nations, said Biden made his position clear in a conversation with Xi Jinping. Greenfield reiterated the threat if China offered military or economic aid to Russia.
