The Navi Mumbai Police seized heroin worth Rs 363 crore (72.518 kg) hidden in a container from Dubai. It has been revealed that the smuggling was done by welding the heroin to the four sides of the marble-filled container.

Interestingly, as no one came to collect this container, the customs and DRI department of Nhava Shewa port inspected it and kept it in the Navkar Logistics godown at Panvel. Police Commissioner Bipin Kumar Singh informed that although no drug smuggler was caught in this operation, a special investigation team has been formed to search for them.

The Punjab Police had informed the Navi Mumbai Police that a large number of narcotics were in a container from abroad at Nhava Shewa port. After that, a team was formed under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police Suresh Mengde and Additional Commissioner of Police Mahesh Guerre. The team arrived at Nhava Shewa Port on 27 December 2021 to search for the container. Then, as no one came to take the marble contained in a container, the police discovered that the container was kept at Navkar Logistics in Panvel. So when the police went to Navkar Logistics and inspected the container, it contained marble.

After the police took out all the marbles in the container but found nothing, the police started rummaging through the container. Then it was found that there was a loud noise in some places and less noise in some places. On close inspection of the frame of the container door, the door of the container was cut with the help of a cutter machine as it was suspected that drugs were hidden in the frame. Then packets of drugs were found in it. Later, when the police cut the leaves from the sides of the container, a total of 72 kg 518 g of heroin was found in it.

Police Commissioner Bipin Kumar Singh said that the price of this drug in the international market is around Rs 362 crore 59 lakh. This performance was done by the team of Senior Police Inspector Giridhar Gore, Sunil Shinde, Ravindra Daundkar, Basir Ali Syed, Ankush Khedkar, and Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Gaikwad, Vijay Chavan, Rani Kale, Tukaram Korde, Avinash Palde, Dhanashree Pawar, Police Sub-Inspector Vijay Shinge, etc.

Establishment of Special Investigation Team

There is a possibility that these drugs may have come from Afghanistan via Dubai. Therefore, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to trace these drug smugglers. Police Commissioner Bipin Kumar Singh believed the case would be thoroughly investigated through 'SIT.'
