Roe V Wade: Biden Promises women traveling for abortion will be protected

As we all know, due to the overturning of the Roe V wade judgment, it is up to the states to ban abortion or keep it legal. Now women in states where abortion is banned or restricted will be forced to travel to states where abortion remains legal.

Hence while speaking in a virtual meeting with the Democratic state governors, the President of the US, Joe Biden, said that he believed some of the states in the US would now attempt to arrest women who would travel to other states where abortion is legal. “I don’t think people believe that’s going to happen. But it is going to happen,” he said.

The President has added that the government should ensure access to the pills that were caused in the states where it was prohibited. Dr. Matthew Wilson, a political science expert at the Southern Methodist University, told the BBC that the federal government’s intervention might lead to many more legal challenges that lead to the Supreme Court. He believes the federal government “is actively working to subvert and undermine the state laws.”

According to Mr. Biden, if only the Democratic victories in the mid-term elections would give Congress more power to restore the federal abortion rights- this will go one way or another after November.
