Putin Targets Foreign-Made Tanks in Ukraine as Biden Claims Russia Has Lost the War

In a recent statement to state television, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that foreign-made tanks were a "priority target" for Russian forces in Ukraine. He emphasized that the supply of Western weaponry to Kyiv would not alter the course of the ongoing conflict. Putin also reiterated his stance that Ukraine's membership in NATO would pose a threat to Russia's security, further escalating global tensions and prolonging the war.

When asked about France's decision to provide Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles capable of traveling 250km (155 miles), Putin acknowledged that they caused damage but downplayed their impact in the war zone, stating that "nothing critical happens" with their use.

These remarks from Putin come as US President Joe Biden expressed his belief that Russia had already lost the war in Ukraine. President Biden voiced hope that the persistent counteroffensive by Ukrainian forces, albeit slow-moving, would compel Moscow to engage in negotiations.

During a press conference held in Helsinki with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto, President Biden stated, "Putin's already lost the war. Putin has a real problem. There is no possibility of him winning the war in Ukraine."

The conflicting statements from the Russian and US leaders highlight the diverging narratives surrounding the Ukrainian conflict. While Putin emphasizes the Russian forces' determination to target foreign-made tanks, Biden asserts that Russia is on the losing side and urges a peaceful resolution through negotiations.
