Sunak's explanation came after the resignation of five of Boris Johnson's aides. Longtime policy chief Munira Mirza, chief of staff Danrosenfeld, chief private secretary Martin Reynolds and communications director Jack Doyle resigned last Thursday.

When the lockdown was imposed on the whole of Britain in 2020, there were several parties on Downing Street, the prime minister's residence. Therefore, it is time for many of Boris Johnson's colleagues to resign.

I would like to thank everyone for their understanding of my qualifications for the PM's job. But right now, I just want to focus on my work. Although some of my colleagues have mentioned my name for the post of Prime Minister, they will surely have some reasons for it. But, I don't think that's the case. UK police are investigating a total of 12 parties involved in a lockdown on Downing Street. It is believed that at least six of them will include the Prime Minister.
