Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza announced her retirement plan

After the 1st round defeat in women's double against Tamara Zidansek and Kaja Juvan at Australian open 2022 Indian star Sania Mirza announced her retirement plan. She is going to retire after the end of 2022 season.

This 35 years old tennis star said "There's a few reasons for it. It's not as simple as 'okay I'm not going to play'. I do feel my recovery is taking longer, I'm putting my 3-year-old son at risk by travelling so much with him, that's something I have to take into account. I think my body is wearing down. My knee was really hurting today and I'm not saying that's the reason we lost but I do think that it is taking time to recover as I'm getting older,"

Sania is the first Indian tennis star who won Grand slam in women's doubles at Australian open 2016 with Martina Hingis. She also ranked 1st in Women's doubles as a first Indian. Her career best rank in women singles was 27.
