Durga Puja engraved on UNESCO's 'Intangible Cultural Heritage' list


The Representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity includes “forms of expression that testify to the diversity of intangible heritage and raises awareness of its importance.”

Durga puja is an exemplary fusion of religion and culture, respected with a ton of pride and commended transcendently by the Bengali people group. Many see it as a feeling in excess of a celebration.

While it is commended in many regions of the world, as well, an authority worldwide acknowledgment was looming. yet, presently, the Intergovernmental council for the shielding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage has recorded 'Durga Puja in Kolkata' on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

the choice came during the sixteenth meeting, occurring practically from December 13-18 this year.
