Ukraine said on Friday that - all its troops were spreading out in the southern city of Kherson and retaking control of the regional capital from the Russian forces after many months of fighting. The Russian defense ministry claimed all its troops there had retreated. The announcement came soon after Russia said that its troops had finished withdrawing from the west bank of the Dnieper River in the Ukrainian city of Kherson on Friday. It is also claimed that no soldiers or military equipment were left behind while leaving the area.
“Kherson is returning under the control of Ukraine. Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are entering the city,” stated the intelligence directorate of Ukraine’s Defence Ministry. Also, it’s said the retreat routes of Russian forces were within the Ukrainian army’s firing range and that “any attempts to oppose the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be stopped.”
Forty-five Ukrainian soldiers have been released from a prisoner in exchange with Russia. Also, the bodies of people killed are now given back to Ukrainian soldiers.
The head of the Ukrainian presidential office has said.“Thanks to the Coordinating Staff on the Treatment of Prisoners of War. We are going on. Our people will return home,” via Tweet.
