How much sexual assault has occurred in Ukraine since the Russian invasion?

Women in particular are facing negative repercussions on their emotional, physical, sexual, and reproductive health as Russia's brutal conflict in Ukraine continues to wreck lives throughout the nation.

There are still millions of displaced women, which leaves them incredibly open to sexual and gender-based violence as well as human trafficking.

What are the most recent statistics on the incidence of sexual assault in Ukraine?

According to a report of ALJAZEERA, Numbers are difficult to rely on since they don't accurately depict the issue. Because to trauma, shame, and self-blame, many survivors are hesitant to share what happened.

Two thirds of the instances listed by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) include women, and one third involve males, many of whom were once prisoners of war. The number of instances that have been documented is likely only the very beginning.

Mr. Nadal the Ukraine representative for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said, The employees at our Dnipro center informed me that out of every 100 women they have encountered, perhaps 10 had experienced gender-based violence and one has experienced sexual abuse. People may make an effort to deny what happened or to cope with it while avoiding seeking help.

Survivors must be made aware that they are not in this situation alone, that it is important, and that the UN and the Ukrainian government are trying to give them the best treatment possible. Almost 17,000 women have received general help from our mobile teams and over 10,000 from our relief centers so far. The more services we provide, the more survivors will ask for assistance.
