A weekly report of the World Health Organization

Over 1.5 crore patients worldwide in a week

In Africa, however, the number of patients fell by 11 percent

The number of new coronary patients worldwide has increased by 55%. The World Health Organization (WHO) said in a report on the Corona epidemic that the death toll remained stable despite an increase in the number of patients.

The WHO released its weekly report on coronary heart disease on Tuesday night. One and a half crore patients were found in the world last week, while 43,000 died. The number of coronary heart disease patients has increased in every part of the world except Africa. In Africa, the number of coronaviruses has dropped by 11 percent. The omicron type of corona is more contagious and more prevalent than the delta type, the report said. Omicron was discovered in November in South Africa. There, as the virus spread, there was an immediate decline.

Researchers in the United Kingdom and the United States have estimated that the wave of omicron infection is at its peak. However, experts say there is uncertainty about the next stage of the epidemic. The United States has seen a sharp rise in new cases this week, with a 78 percent increase in the number of patients. The number of patients in Europe has increased by 31%, while the number of deaths has decreased by 10%. The number of patients in Southeast Asia has increased by 400 percent. Most of them are from India, Timor-Leste, Thailand, and Bangladesh. The death toll in Southeast Asia has dropped by six percent.

The incidence of omicron is more:

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), omicron-type infections are growing faster than corona delta-type infections. Evidence is being found about the ability of Omicrons to penetrate the human immune system. However, experts say that the severity of the disease caused by omicron is less than that of other types of corona.

Increased tests in Tianjin:

In the Chinese city of Tianjin, 97 patients were diagnosed with Omicron on Wednesday. Against this backdrop, tests of 14 million citizens of the city will be conducted and the second phase of these tests has started. Citizens were instructed to stay indoors until the test report was received, according to China's Xinhua news agency. So far, the administration has tested one crore 20 lakh citizens in the city. The first patient with omicron was found in Tianjin on Saturday. The Winter Olympics are set to begin in Beijing on February 4. The city of Tianjin is an hour's drive from Beijing. Caution is being taken against that background.

Booster Dosage in Indonesia:

A booster dose of the corona vaccine has been given to senior citizens in Indonesia since Wednesday. The Indonesian government has announced that it will provide 21 million booster doses of the corona vaccine this month. Those who took the second dose of the vaccine six months ago will now be given a booster dose. About 117 million people in Indonesia have so far received both doses of the vaccine.
