Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram tweeted - "this morning a CBI team search my residence at Chennai and my official residence at Delhi. The team showed me FIR in which I am not named as an accused. The search team found nothing and seized nothing. I may point out that the timing of the search is interesting."
This CBI search was done because KartiChidambaram, Congress leader and son of P. Chidambaram, was an alligator of receiving gratification of rupees 50 lakh for facility around 260 visas to Chinese citizens they could work at a power project in Punjab. Which is run by a private company; an official revealed this.
CBI searched Karti's residence which he owned in Chennai, Mumbai, Odisha, Karnataka and Punjab. After the search done by CBI, Kriti also Twitter- "I have lost count; how many times has it been? Must be a record." As his reaction to the raids of CBI.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) cases are involved in this where INX media and Aircel – Maxis deal. The charge sheet of INX media was fired, and in 2019 and 2020, P. Chidambaram was the finance minister, and he misused his office to favour INX media instead of Bribes.
Aircel: Maxis deal was charged in 2018for with irregularities in the grant of foreign investment promotion board approval. Now, the time will tell where things will lead P. Chidambaram and his son karti Chidambaram; CBI has found nothing yet.
