How is Penis Cancer Treated?

The two main types of penile cancer are invasive and non-invasive. Non-invasive penile cancer is a condition in which cancer has not spread to deeper tissues, lymph nodes, or glands. Invasive penile cancer is a condition in which cancer has spread to the tissues of the penis and surrounding lymph nodes and glands.

Some of the main treatments for non-invasive penile cancer are:

Circumcision: Circumcision refers to removing of foreskin of penis.

Laser therapy: The high light of laser therapy destroys tumors and cancer cells.

Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy helps to eliminate cancer cells in a patient's body.

Immunotherapy: In immunotherapy, the patient's body's immune system is enhanced against cancer cells.

Radiation therapy: High-energy radiation shrinks tumors and kills cancer cells.

Cryosurgery: Liquid nitrogen freezes the tumors and then later removes them.

Some surgeries are also included in treating this disease:

Excisional surgery:-

Excisional surgery is done to remove the tumor from the penis. A local anesthetic will be given to numb that area of your body, so the patient does not feel any pain. Your surgeon will remove the tumor and the affected area, leaving a border of healthy tissue and skin. After that, the doctor will close the incision with stitches.

Mohs surgery:-

The goal of Mohs surgery is to remove all cancer cells. During this procedure, your surgeon will remove a thin layer of the affected area. They will then examine it under a microscope to determine if it contains cancer cells. This process is repeated until no cancer cells are present in the tissue samples.

Partial penectomy:

In partial penectomy, part of the penis is removed. This operation is the best option when the tumor is small. For larger tumors, the entire penis may be removed. Complete removal of the penis is called a total penectomy.

If there is a disease, there is a cure for the disease, but there are some diseases about which we hesitate to tell our doctors, our family, and friends, we are not able to say anything to anyone because of shame, but you should remember your life. There is nothing more valuable than this, so if you do not want to become a victim of such a disease, get the necessary treatment.
