Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the scoresheet has been hailed by Andy Cole.

Cristiano Ronaldo boosted Manchester United’s nervous performance against Brighton last night with a goal-scoring moment.

Ronaldo fired past Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with a shot that was hit so early that the goalkeeper had little chance.

It was the Portuguese superstar’s first goal of 2022 and ended a goalless run of six matches, which was his longest such spell since the first time he was at United.

Following the game, former Manchester United striker Andy Cole praised Ronaldo on Premier League productions.

“What are your 804 professional objectives?” Cole laughed, “Dreadful, totally terrible.” “This was the first time Manchester United put pressure on Brighton.” From there, you’d expect him to strike the target, and he has. We know he’s a one-of-a-kind player.” It’s unbelievable to still be scoring goals at 37 years old while playing at the highest level. He has a lot of goals. In his career, he’s done practically everything. But the fact that you still have that hunger and desire says everything.”

“Last night, Ronaldo tied Cole for the most Premier League goals for Manchester United with 93.”

Former teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is two strikes ahead on 95, is his next target.

Ronaldo will expect to chase that down soon, and it is hoped that this goal will help him regain his scoring form.

Next week also marks the return of the Champions League, and Ronaldo has a habit of saving his best performances for special occasions. He nearly single-handedly carried United through the group stage, scoring in every European game he appeared in.

Ronaldo could have scored more on the night, but United prevailed, and attention now shifts to the resumption of the rivalry with Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.
